 Cancellation of 2020 Outstanding Athlete Awards Since most of the international and local competitions in 2020 were cancelled or postponed, Para athletes were unable to participate and attain achievements in sporting arena. Therefore, the Association decided to cancel the 2020 Outstanding Athlete Awards. The Association first established the Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year Awards in 1979 to recognize athletes’ outstanding performance in his/her own events and his/her contribution in promoting Para sports and also in upbringing of new athletes. Then the Outstanding Athletes Awards has been established since 1984 to commend the excellent performance and achievements of sportsmen and sportswomen in their respective sports.
